Seeking Darkness

I left seeking darkness 
But all I found was light. 
Southern sky full of moon 
Northern sky of storm 
All between starry ether 
And flashing clouds. 
I looked to the mountains 
But men’s lights shine there 
Like stars in their own right. 
To the east roars road 
Men hurrying into the night. 
Even though the sun is gone 
Light drips from everything, 
From leaves and grass. 
Sky and earth glow 
Radiant with the glory of nature 
And of He who makes it so.
