Opportunities at Younglife

You were made for this! You were made to experience a life full of joy and awe. You were created by the Creator of all things. You have a purpose. – Young Life

This is our voice for Young Life. We are an outreach missions organization that goes to
adolescence in the public school systems. We go and hang out with middle and high school students. We become their friends. The heart of our ministry comes down to relationships with students. There is a need for adolescence to have a place where they can go and be their fullest and truest selves. A huge goal for us is to have a “come as you are” mentality.

Once a week leaders will come together and put on “club” aka youth group in an unconventional way. Our goal is to reach kids who want nothing to do with God. Club looks like an environment full of fun and funny elements mixed with the heart of the mission- the love of God. During club the volunteer leaders will put on mixer games, announcements, and a raffle to get everyone involved. A skit to create a safe and welcoming environment for laughter, a song that reflects the love of Christ, a small “ club talk” to present the gospel.

The goal of Young Life club is for everyone to be able to feel comfortable with where they are in their relationship with God. We LOVE new kids, that’s our goal- for kids to bring their friends, we want to reach the unreached!

Don’t hear me wrong, all of that club stuff is fun but that’s not our purpose. Our purpose is people. You will find me, a CCU student volunteer young life leader, at more high school sports games or extracurriculars throughout the week rather than a once a week club. Why? Because that’s our emphasis, we want to be more than a youth group leader, we want to be our kids friends. How do you make friends? By spending time with them. We want our kids to have a safe place to ask their questions.

This month we had an all area kick off event. This means that all Young Life’s in the South Jeffco area came together and did a big event together. We put on something we like to call “The Color Olympics”. And we got messy–This is a younglife norm though. If you know anything about us, you know we love a messy game or two. This was a night filled with shaving cream, powder paint, and food dye water balloons all mixed with games and some more games!

CCU students, we have a need. We need YOU! We need college age students to come and
lead. I promise it is fun but you also gain a community like no other. I have learned so much from my co leaders. The more leaders we have, the more middle schoolers and high schoolers we can reach.

Consider partnering with us. You were made for this!
