More Than Just An Athlete – A Connection Story
Alana was a senior on the Women’s Soccer team at Colorado Christian University last year. She was a goalkeeper and revealed the importance of her role on the team because of how specific her position is. Goalkeepers being the one out of eleven on the field brings such a different role and mindset as a player because of the aggressiveness to compete and the pressure to perform.
While that can be a difficult role, Alana enjoyed it because it brought that tenacious spirit to other aspects of her life outside of soccer.
She is an avid thrifter. From visiting thrift stores in her home state Nebraska, here in Colorado and even when traveling, Alana loves the activity. She says it is all about finding fun things and using your imagination to put together outfits. While thrifting is her favorite form of self-care and relaxes her, Alana enjoys getting to share thrifting with her friends and teammates because it’s such a unique and special activity to her.
Alana loved being part of a team that has such strong relationships with each other which is part of the reason she chose CCU four years ago.
She reminisced on the memories she made from growing up in soccer and the strong friendships with girls on her team and knew she wanted to build more in college. Being able to share her hobbies off the field have also given her different relationships with her teammates. Alana is thankful for the girls she gets to compete with on the field and share life with off the field.
