Goldens in Golden
On February 9th, hundreds of Golden Retrievers and their adoring owners flocked to downtown Golden for the annual event fittingly titled “Goldens in Golden”. The energy was high as dog lovers, golden enthusiasts, or simply locals looking for a wagging tail to brighten their day, mingled in the crowded street. The event, taking place from 10:30am until 1:00pm produced quite the turnout.
The dog owners were able to share the serotonin boosting effect of petting adorable golden retrievers as a plethora of happy barks and squeals of joy filled the brisk February air, along with stray tufts of fur. In fact, there was quite the assortment ranging from long to short and curly to straight, as well as the deepest shade of dark red all the way to palest English Cream. That wasn’t the only form of diversity amongst the crowd though. The dogs varied in size, shape, age, and outfit – some rocking a simple bandana and others outfitted in entire costumes from ski goggles and booties to a sunflower tutu!
First held in 2019, Goldens in Golden brings people and puppies together to brighten up the bleak winter with a little bit of golden sunshine!! When asked about the day, CCU student Halina Adams says, “I think this is exactly what it is going to be like when Jesus comes back – lots of dogs and happiness!”
